This weekend went better than I had feared. Friday night, there was a bit of a snafu with getting the boys out on their annual candy extortion tour. They had a blast, though, so it all worked out. I was exhausted, but managed to get some sleep later.
Didn't take the bug out, it was too cold. so I hung at lawst's house and handed out candy.
Saturday I got a chance to get out on my own for a few hours. Did some errands, getting the mattress and bedding for the crib, and groceries. Mundane stuff, but I felt much more relaxed afterwards. Rob and Elena were going to watch the kids so J. and I could go out, but we were too tired by the time evening rolled around.
Yesterday we got the crib set up, so the bug spent his first night in his own room last night. He seemed to handle it well. I don't think he woke up more than normal. Grandma watched him last night for a bit, so the four of us could go out to dinner. Cowboy's rocks :).
had a little heart-melt moment when I put the bug to bed last night. He looked so *little* when in his crib. I guess I'm just used to seeing him in the bassinet, which he outgrew a couple of weeks ago. He's definately got room to grow and move in his crib, now :).
And the baby monitor doesn't have that annoying static buzz, now that we've moved it away from the computer :).

Working on getting his care switched over to Children's. I don't have a preference for his doctor, but Jay would be happier if he's seen at Children's. Since I figure it's counter-productive to argue about it (I think he'll get excellent care there, I think he's getting excellent care now, Jay wants him to switch), we're going that route.

He's been very talkative lately, vocalizing most of the time he's awake. I hope Betony is better at chattering to him than I am. I've never been very good at endless chatter, and constant exposure to language is what he needs right now. He's getting much better at upper body exercises, doesn't get nearly as frustrated when he tries to push himself up off his stomach. But he does get very assertive when he doesn't want to be on his tummy. He'll roll himself onto his back, and then complain if you try to roll him back :).

I'm so glad things are going well for you, Jay and the kiddo! I love seeing your posts. As 'mundane' as they are, you find joy in many things and that seems to be rare these days.

Oh and, yes, Cowboy's rocks. I didn't realize you live in this area. We'll be sure to invite you to the next local gathering. :-)
