Green River
Oct. 30th, 2003 08:39 amA simple name, that holds so many undertones for this region. 49 women killed or missing. Prostitutes and runaways, mostly. The unprotected.
Now, Ridgeway has agreed to a plea bargain, for over 40 counts of murder. We may have solved the Green River Killer case. Over 40 families will have answers, and the state avoids the years of trials and appeals. And Ridgeway will die in prison, but not at the hands of the executioner.
I rememeber it being on the news. I was maybe ten, until maybe twelve. I remember it ALWAYS being on the news. I didn't grasp it at the time. It's only in the last ten years or so (ten years AFTER the killer officially stopped hunting, for the record) that I've realized how many people that bastard hurt.
Part of me wants to see him fry. Well, swing, in this state.
But a bigger part wants those 40 families to know what happened to their wives, mothers, sisters and daughters.
