Seriously bent-out-of-shape baby
Aug. 27th, 2003 02:24 pmConnor had his 2 month check-up today. Yay, he's putting on weight, apporpriate to his growth curve!! But the two month is the start of [ominous drumroll] vaccinations.
Four shots, two in each thigh. Including the tetanus, which I *know* hurts (I've had several in teh last five years). He's calmed down now, but BOY he was pissed off in the exam room. The nurse seemed surprised at how loud his cries were. Yes, I've been *telling* you he's got a shriek like a banshee (tangent: male banshee's? anyone know of reports of any?). Now imagine it at 03:45, when he's been at it for 45 minutes. ANd Jay wonders why I don't seem to be paying attention as much as I used to. It's Tinnitus, hon.
He's put on weight and height well, but we still need to keep an eagle eye on his hydration. Basically, we hydrate him first, then nutrients. I got a scrip for vitamins, so I don't have to feel quite so conflicted about "Do I give him Formula or Water?" More water might help his early morning fuss fests as well, with at least fewer episodes of vomiting to look forward to.
But I don't have to worry about his sinuses getting infected, and his toenails aren't getting ingrown (they're just baby-thin, it's a self correcting issue).
Fell into an oppoirtunity for a cardiologist to do an ultrasound of Connor, and *we* get paid for it. Siemens is developing a new pediatric transducer, and is getting input from the industry. They needed models. Hey, I've got an 8 week old you can scan, since you're going to pay me for our time :). SO, cardiologist scans Connor, mentions he's got a slight murmer but probably one that will correct itself within a year, and compliments him on his calm nature. He was very well behaved, I must say.
Now, I must take advantage of naptime to get laundry done, and the litter boxes dealt with.

Date: 2003-08-27 02:46 pm (UTC)As primary care giver for less than 6 month old special needs baby, he is still at risk for FLAME virii, one of them through cat shit.
I know you are both meticulous about hand cleansing, but the cat bos should be Jay for 10 months.
Freaked nurse...
