The two major mid-to-upper-range helmet manufacturers are Arai and Shoei. They use different base molds, the Arai tends to be more oval from front to back in cross-section, the Shoei tends to be more circular in cross-section. I have an Arai head, I can't wear a Shoei helmet, because it presses uncomfortably on my forehead. Someone with a Shoei head will probably find an Arai pressing uncomfortably at the temples.
