For any of you ladies who've considered riding your own motorcycle, how discouraging/disheartening/scary was the idea of taking the safety training (MSF) course? Would you have been more interested in a women-only course?

A friend of mine taught one this weekend, and I'm pondering whether those are a good idea, or if efforts should be made to make them a regular occurrence.

I won't be taking the course any time soon, but have considered it in the past. This is probably the only time in my life that I would ever have preferred a women only anything. I'm a little moritfied that I just said that, but there ya go!

I personally didn't have an issue with the regular MSF course- but then again, I worked in a "male-dominated" profession at the time. I do, however, know of several female friends who seemed intimidated at the thought of attending the class with a bunch of guys- same group of females who felt a bit discouraged by trying to use the free-weights at the gym with all the big male weightlifters standing in front of them. I do think it may help open doors for some gals reluctant to take the course otherwise- and the more people we can get to take the class, the fewer people first-responders have to scrape off the road later!

I can see where some might prefer a woman only course - but, if I was to ever decide I wanted to actually ride my own, rather than being content riding behind others, A class would be the first thing I would do, and I would prefer one that was almost all males other than me (but I'm a bit weird)
