Whiteboard paint
Oct. 15th, 2008 10:44 amMany of the conference rooms in this new (Green (tm)!) building complex have walls painted with whiteboard paint. The *whole wall* is a whiteboard.
I am almost embarrassed to admit how much sqwee I did when I really grokked that. And now I know, when I get my own house, that my craft room will be done at least half in whiteboard paint :).

Date: 2008-10-15 06:12 pm (UTC)magnetic primer...
Date: 2008-10-15 10:48 pm (UTC)1. cans of that stuff is very heavy
2. I think it's expensive
3. After three coats, it's has a WEAK pull to it (even with other magnets over it to pinch between the two)
Therefore a sheet of metal is the better of the two. Maybe put mag. paint on metal sheet?... Wonder how well that would work...

Date: 2008-10-15 06:06 pm (UTC)MY first thought was "Not until bug is old enough to grok 'here but not there' COMPLETELY."
But I totally want one too! I've heard mixed results re. the magnetic paint though which I also think is way cool. Anyone know how smooth the wall has to be?

Date: 2008-10-15 09:10 pm (UTC)Sanded down the wall using 800 grit paper, then put 3 layers of primer and 3 layers of black (which was probably overkill). Now I have a magnetic doodleboard that I can clean with a damp rag. :D
