From the "Huh?" files...
Aug. 19th, 2008 04:24 pmSuddenly reminded of an anecdote from the old Exit.
This was after Irv died, and just before it moved. The North American Hippy's migratory patterns had returned them to our shores. This year, there was a notably out-there member of the (herd? pack? What *is* the collective noun for Hippies?). As in, even by hippy standards he was out there. We'll pause a moment to ponder the full ramifications of that...
Ok. So, this guy, we'll call him Waterfall. I don't remember what he called himself, but this gives the gestalt of his name. So, he wanders into the Exit. A common occurance. He sits down at a table intending to hang as long as the staff will let him. Again, a common occurance. The staff, who by this point in the summer are Pretty. Damn. Tired. of the flower children taking up tables while not ordering anything, inform him if he wants to stay, he has to order something. So he does. And it comes. "Oh, I don't have any money."
o.O
Of course, from his perspective, they really only specified that he *order*, not that he be capeable of paying for it... He was honestly surprised when they kicked him out.
