Random Christmas memories
Sep. 25th, 2007 01:45 pmIn our family, the rule was Santa brings toys, but when you stop believing in Santa, then you get 'clothes and coffeepots'. In a burst of enlightened self-interest, I never announced that I no longer believed in Santa (and as far as my parents are concerned, I still believe in him). My little brother decided one year that he was done being little, he didn't believe that baby stuff. Santa was just Dad!
Well, my Dad says, you know this means you wont be getting toys anymore.
Yes I will! Insists my brother.
Un-beknown to my brother, my Dad pulled the camping coffeepot off the boat, and wrapped it. Labeled it and everything.
Christmas morning dawns, and Dad reminds my brother "You don't believe in Santa anymore, so it's clothes and coffeepots for you from now on!" My brother insists that he knows he's right, Dad is just teasing him.
Guess which present my Dad had him open first?
The look of sudden unsureness on my brother's face was priceless.
