Sep. 14th, 2006 04:05 pmThis morning was grumpy-making. I'd made plans to borrow
larsisbjorn's truck, to move my bike to the shop. Got myself out of the house around 8.
Realize I've forgotten the key for the bike. I've only made it ~ 4 miles from the house, must turn around and go get it.
Get to house, grab key, back on the road.
Get to
lawst's house, putter, load up bike, get going. takes about an hour.
Realize I have to stop at UHonda to pick up gasket sets. Reroute to Capitol Hill. Make turn onto Denny, bike shifts and hangs, ever so gently, in the balance, while she decides if she wants to slide off the bed of the truck and into the road. While she is making up her mind, I c-a-r-e-fu-l-l-y cover the last 6 blocks to the shop. Go in, ask for my gaskets and some help re-setting the bike. Helps to know employees. Get friendly grins and plenty of help.
12:00: FINALLY get to the shop that will be making my bike go. Drop of bike and associated bits, give them what history I know, watch the service writer carefully *not* wince at some of the changes previous owner made (he covered well). Get out of there around 30 minutes later.
I'm supposed to do a 10 hour shift today. I'm thinking that's not likely to happen, I still have to go back out to Monroe to return the truck.
