Bug and dogs
Jun. 20th, 2006 04:08 pmSo, Bug had an encounter with an enthusiastic (but HEEEUUUUGE puppy) at 40 year, that could have turned him off dogs entirely. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have done so.
This puppy is a Rottie-Mastiff mix. He's only about (in early May) 6 months old, but he was already 72 pounds. Big pup (nice, but puppy, and BIG). He though Bug was just soo cooooolllll! The FACE! MUST LICK THE FACE!!! Unfortunately, pup was more than twice Bug's size, and stood eye to eye with him, so he ended up bowling over my Bug, and then stepping on him in his enthusiasm to LICK THE FACE!!! As far as Bug was concerned, this giant just knocked him down and stepped on him, and this was NOT FUN. There were tears.
Fast forward several weeks, and we're visiting another friend, who happens to have a pair of boxers, one of which is new to the house, and a jumper. Bug had fun running with them in the back yard, and aside from trying to protect his face when they'd try to lick it, seemed fine with them. Didn't get knocked over, which is a plus. Had a positive canine experience, to balance out the earlier negative one.
