OK, I have a bitch about women's clothes.

Why is it that a 'Tall' pair of trousers indicates a 33" inseam? What good is one extra inch going to do?

Might as well also wonder why women's sizes come in funky even numbers that have no relation to any kind of measurement. Ours is not to wonder why...

Actually, the numbers *did*, at one time, have a defined relationship with real measurements.
Before WWII, that is.

Now, with each designer deciding which measuremenets they think a size 6 is, there's no hope for us :).

Oh, and the even numbers mean you've got curves. If you wear odd numbers, then you're in 'Misses' sizes, which assume you haven't finished maturing yet.

And this is why I hate to shop!

Also, if the even numbers assume you have curves, then why are they made for women with no hips or thighs or stomachs? Grrrr.

Honey, I'm 5'9", and built like a linebacker. You wanna talk "hate to shop"? ;)

Do what I do. Find a designer that designs to your body style, and give them *all* your business. For me, St. John's Bay (the JC Penney house brand) is Teh Shiznit. Although, I'm starting to look into the Lane Bryant selections.

Jeez, I'd kill to have the occasional pair of 33" inseams. The pants locally are 29"-30" and I'd like to note that I'm not a petite midget. *grump*

Well, this is specifically going to the "Talls" sections.

No wonder I find myself wearing my husband's jeans so often. It's nice to occasionally have to roll up the extraneous couple of inches of inseam . . .

*grin* I've tried that with Chris', but I'd need a belt. They slide down to my hips and the minute I move they slide off. (This is where he'd insert a snarky comment about me being a petite midget and I'd have to wallop him).

You know, that could be a good look. body suit, oversized jeans held up with braces. Very early Gwen Stefani.

Or Chris could be right :).

*grin* Only from his perspective. I'm built with your description. 5'9 and a linebacker (DE, actually, is what I played when I was in jr. high;).

Then Chris is built along the lines of my J. 2 metres tall, 150 Kg.

Pretty close. *amused* I had to check conversions. So really, it's their reality that's skewed. Not everyone is a giant

I really love odd numbered inseams in jeans. 33 is my magic number. Can't find it often.

I've never actually mesured them - but for jeans I always get Lee Riders from Kmart in tall. They never fail to fit - in fact, they are often a little bit *too* long.

For slacks, I found mine at Layne Bryant, they were labled as tall, and I actually had to dry them on hot for a bit so I wasn't tripping over the edge of the legs they were so long.

Layne bryant actually has a fairly good selection, as long as you stay away from their spring line. That's when I wound up buying my clothes there because work instituted a new dress code last year. The amount of pastels I had to buy was almost enough to make me puke....

(oh, and I'm 6'1" tall, with my legs being disproportiaonlly long.)

I've been happy with Eddie Bauer pants. They old up just as well or better than Levi's and they're built for real women, not just a scaled up size 3.

Hmm. I'll check them out :).
