It is wrong to display approval of your child striking another child. Even if he *did* perform a perfect knife-handed thumb strike on the kid that just clocked him with a tonka truck . . .

because he's still too young to grasp the intricacies of "when it is alright to hit". So we'll start with "It's not alright to hit", and introduce exceptions to the rule later.
