Had a good time at lawst's bonfire last night. Although, I discovered that the mosquitos in her yard have some *really* nasty element in their environment, that really hates me. I'm used to skeeter bites welting (I've seen a single bite welt up to the size of my palm), but this one discolored in the process. And, joy of joys, it was right under my left eye. I looked like I had a shiner.

This morning, still tender, still discolored, not welted. An improvement, I suppose.

ACK! Nasty!

I've gotta ask... have the mosquitos gone nuts up there since I left 10 yrs ago? I don't recall ever them being a problem, but you're not the first person I've heard mention them in the last couple of years. :\

I mean, I'm sure it's not like down here... I hope not... please dear god let it be not...

Depends on the year, really. I've been bothered by them for decades now (lived across the street from the north end of the Arboretum, which was a massive breeding ground), so I couldn't tell you if they've actually gotten worse or not.

For me, it all depends on whether I'm near the stagnant water that provides them with hatching sites.

From what I've heard, it's not like it is down there. :).
