been quiet the last week or so. Had a lot going on, but not much that kept me near a puter :).

Bug's latest checkup went well, the Doctors had this to say: "WooooHooo!!"
So that's good. J's starting PT, hopefully he'll be cleared to go back to work soon. Of course, then he'd have to find work . . .

Wedding stuff proceeds as best as can be expected :). Mostly it's little crap now. I think the most pressing matter is the bar stuff (find a tender, remember to remind [livejournal.com profile] helix90 that he said I could borrow the Deva bar, find frelling barware}.

J. and I ran away to dinner and a movie on Friday. Much goodness. Went to see Ladder 49.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Ahem. I thought it was good. I'd known it was good previously, a friend had seen it pre-release through a special showing for his station house. His comment was "Who snuck a camera into my station house?!?". And one of his station buddies said "Nope, no way my wife is seeing this." It's a realistic portrayal of firefighters, and it doesn't shy away from the bad parts (firefighters get hurt, and some of them die).
The sad bits are very sad (I cried). The scary parts are really scary. The funny parts are really f*cking funny.

I really enjoyed this movie as well. I saw a preview of it several weeks back through Cinema Seattle. I hope to see it again while it's in theatres. I thought Joaquin Phoenix did an excellent job. And I still like John Travolta, though he didn't have as much range in this one as in some other films.

Did you know that the 11-story grain elevator fire at dockside was a real fire? They had trouble with it because it started to snow while they were torching it for the film. So they were able to do the Christmas scenes with real snow. Pretty neat!

Both internal and external scenes were real? Wow. Part of me is saying "COOL!!", and part of me is saying "OMG, That could have turned out Horribly Wrong . . ."

I caught a snippet of an interview with Travolta about this movie, he was mentioning that, being in his 50s, the 'suiting up' scenes were entertaining. Here he is surrounded by young guys, the bell goes off, 30 seconds later they're all suited up, and he's still s-l-o-w-l-y pulling on his jacket . . .
