Bug had a scary "Hey, that hurt!" moment last night, that hopefully will stop him from flipping onto his hands and knees and crawling around on the changing table.
He crawled off the end.
Head first.
I let out a scream, that I suspect scared him more than the fall did.
Fortunately, he chose the end that the diaper pail was on, so he did a face plant on top of the diaper pail, and ended up falling only about 18 inches.
There was much outrage and sadness.
No pain, though (Except for J., who torqued his back jumping at my scream).

We will see if this restrains his more exuberant antics when being changed. If not, I'm going to have to take a page from [livejournal.com profile] lawst's book, and change him in his crib.

Geez, I know he's fine and my heart is still pounding.

Glad it was not nearly as bad as the could'ves.

How's J's back?

J.'s back is as good as can be expected, considering the (lack of) care he takes of it.
See you later tonight?

Oh my. ...interesting that you just recently comforted me in my time of "HOLY #$%$%--THE BABY JUST FELL!"

Funny how the scream ripped out, whether you wanted to or not, eh? ...but I'm very, very glad to hear no true damage was done. K's to the point where he's content to lie there now (rather than the earlier, scrambly, crawly stage you're at), while I grab whatever else I've forgotten to bring over from here or there in his room. I'm glad for that. (I can be a little scatty!) *s*

Yeah, my Bug is still at the "ooh, light switch! thermostat! Wall! MUST INVESTIGATE!" stage :). But he does seem to have mellowed the wriggling a bit, anyway.

I wasn't able to *act*, just watch in horror. Now that I think about it, I'm somewhat disappointed in myself for that. But, it's not something that I should beat myself up over, so I wont.

Changing tables...

I skipped the changing table thing entirely for exactly this reason, with both kids.

I just lay down one of those waterproof pads, on the floor, or a low bed, as convenient, and change there. Only inconvenience is it's not at such a nice height for me, and once in a very long while, I wind up changing sheets. Oh well - they probably needed to be washed anyhow. :)

Yeah, the changing table was a good plan for me, until now. I'm rethinking how this will go now that he's gotten more active.
Given the health issues, he's going to be in diapers for a long while :).
